A stunning yellow tape nestled inside a lyric-laden J-card enclosed in a transparent plastic case wrapped in a frankly excessive O-card. This limited edition tape is so luxurious we’re literally losing money on it.

Garden Song 04:43

about

✨ In the summer of 2019, Max Blansjaar took over the small garden studio belonging to his label Beanie Tapes for a week and came out with the five new songs that make up his sophomore release, Fantasy Living.

“While last year’s Spit It Out! EP was recorded over the course of four months, Fantasy Living took me just a week to create; I spent entire days in Beanie Tapes Studios recording and producing everything myself. My aim was to fuse pop music – which gets an unfairly bad rep these days – with more trashy, lo-fi sounds, taking artists like Darwin Deez and Tune-Yards for inspiration.”

Since his début Spit It Out! landed in 2018, Max has become a regular name on Oxford gig posters, playing every venue in town (except the ones he’s not allowed in until he’s 18) and most of the local festivals. His packed out Truck Festival set was a highlight of the summer and he’s already made it onto the line-up of Ritual Union, an Oxford all-dayer that features mostly out-of-town bands. BBC Introducing has enthusiastically supported all his singles and he’s widely regarded as “Oxford’s new indie / pop sensation” (Oxfordshire Music Scene, Autumn 2019)

Fantasy Living is an official Cassette Store Day release. |[●▪▪●]|
